Shop and Win Winner

Christmas has come early for one lucky Greerton shopper, after winning the Greerton Village “shop local and win” competition   and receiving $1000 Greerton Dollars.

Winners, Lisa and Fred Crawshaw,  had their name pulled from the draw at the annual Christmas Variety Show last Friday evening.  The couple, who live and work in the area are regular shoppers in Greerton.   Fred says this is the first competition he has won in his life, and he is rapt!

The win came from purchasing food for their dog, Sooty, at Greerton  Pet Essentials.

“Sooty   was an abused puppy who was rescued by our daughter.  He is like a foster child for us, but due to a beef allergy, he needs a special diet,” says Fred.

Pet Essentials owners Peter and Wendy Hill are delighted that one of their regular customers won the big prize.  “Lots of people are realising that their pet’s diets are just as important as their own and so quality food is imperative for a healthy pet,” says Wendy. Peter and Wendy have owned the business for over 14 years and supply both raw and quality dried pet foods to customers who come from all over the Bay of Plenty and beyond.

The competition ran for a month and attracted around 24,000 entries. Mainstreet manager Victoria Thomas is stoked with the amount of entries “it’s awesome to see our local community supporting our local businesses this Christmas”.

The Crawshaws will spend their winnings on “more dog food” and a few treats for the family.
